Open Position for Program Manager, Dance Department, Hartt Community Division
The Hartt School Community Division (HCD) is seeking a highly qualified program manager to oversee and implement the day-to-day operations of the Dance Department.
Organization Overview - The Hartt School Community Division of the University of Hartford is a comprehensive community arts school that annually provides performing arts instruction to more than 2,000 students. It is a division of The Hartt School, one of the seven colleges of the University of Hartford.
The Community Division offers a variety of opportunities in music and dance for students of all ages, experience levels, and abilities. Students may choose among a number of options, from private music instruction and dance classes to large performing ensembles and chamber music. Paths of study range from serving the passionate hobbyist to the ambitious pre-professional.
The Dance Department at The Hartt School Community Division carries on the tradition and quality of the School of the Hartford Ballet, providing a comprehensive training curriculum for children, adults and pre-professional dancers. The department offers year-round classes in ballet, modern, jazz, tap and other cultural dances to students ages age three through adult.

Reporting Relationship - The Program Manager reports to the Director.
Job Responsibilities - The main job responsibilities of the Program Manager will be to:
• Manage, coordinate and supervise the operations of Dance Department activities.
• Work closely with the Director and Department Chair to implement short and long-range marketing and promotion plans.
• Establish, cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, parents and members of the community.
• Assist the Director and Department Chair in identifying, planning and implementing performance and educational opportunities, including community partnership programs and off-site performances.
• Act as a representative for prospective and current students and parents, and respond to inquiries regarding HCD programs.
• Develop and oversee select HCD Dance Department project budgets.
• Manage the logistics of room scheduling and set-up, as needed, to assist faculty and support the operational needs of the program.
Personal Skills/Attributes/Qualifications - The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
• Significant dance operations experience
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• The ability to work effectively with many different constituencies including students, families, faculty, staff, and institutional partners
• Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
• Must be dedicated and able to work independently at a high level
Educational Requirements - Bachelor’s degree or comparable field experience
Schedule - Monday through Friday, with additional evening and weekend work as needed
Compensation - Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include: Health, Dental, Long-term Disability, Flexible Spending Accounts, Retirement Plan, and Paid time off.

Ideal candidates will have vast experience instructing both youth and adults at varying ability levels.
